In March 2013 the UKMF established a single working group with a remit to examine future scenarios and their implications for maintaining supplies of essential minerals to meet the needs of the UK economy over the 35 years to 2050, draw conclusions and make recommendations. The Group has looked particularly at minerals already being produced in the UK, or which might be produced here in the future, together with the wider factors that may influence future demand and supply. This study (which included undertaking a scenarios workshop) was completed in July 2014 and the results were presented at the CBI Minerals Group Living with Minerals 5 Conference in London on 17 November 2014. UK Minerals Forum Working Groups 2007–2008
At its meeting on 19 September 2007, the UKMF established four Working Groups to examine the following topics:
